As China emerges on to the world market, their need to communicate with the Western world increases. Communication is not just being able to speak a language, it's also about understanding a culture. In November 2000, I traveled to Beijing and Hong Kong to interview teachers of English. My goal was to find our how great the demand is for China to learn English and how this is being done. I also delved into the personal lives of the teachers to understand what it is like for a foreigner to live in China. The Tongue Goes Through The Teeth is their story. Pamela Toole Director
